ADAM ENGEL

My name is Adam, though everyone calls me by my last name Engel (an-gle). I’m from Wichita, Kansas and moved to Colorado about 10 years ago. A couple years after moving, I began tattooing in Boulder.

I specialize primarily in black and grey but I have been focusing on working on more color pieces lately. I love black and grey, but color can allow for a more intricate piece. It’s an entirely different ball game and I enjoy how it can be more of a challenge that pushes me to grow with my artistic skill. I also do a lot of cover-ups, they can present another kind of challenge (which is probably why I enjoy them). There’s nothing better than covering up people’s old, shitty tattoos with new, beautiful tattoos!

I love being a tattooer and as long as I’m tattooing, I’m happy. I am a custom artist, so having the freedom to create a piece specifically designed for my clients is incredibly fulfilling. I began tattooing with the intention of making pieces for people that showcased my own custom art and style. That being said, after several years of tattooing I feel like I’m still developing “my style”, which is another reason I love tattooing. It’s all about growth and progress, becoming better and better year after year. So, keep an eye on my tattooing journey and watch me as I grow!
